WhatsApp, the messaging app owned by Meta Platforms Inc., announced on Monday that it would roll out a long-anticipated feature allowing users to edit sent messages. The function will be available globally in the next few weeks.

With this new feature, users will have the ability to modify their messages within 15 minutes of sending. Access to the editing function is gained by long-pressing the message and then selecting "edit" from the drop-down menu that appears.
Once a message has been altered, it will be marked with an "edited" label. However, the app will not display a history of the edits made to the message.
WhatsApp's new feature follows in the footsteps of competing messaging apps like Telegram and Signal, which have previously enabled users to edit their messages. Additionally, Twitter introduced a similar feature for some users last year, allowing them to edit tweets after posting.
